Infosys Technologies has announced plans to buy Axon Group plc, one of the leading SAP consultancies in the UK. The deal is valued at £407.1 million and Infosys is expected to have full ownership by November 2008.

Axon is a consulting firm whose clients include multinational organisations that use SAP as their platform. The consultancy has offices in the UK, North America, Australia and Malaysia. It employs about 2,000 employees and specializes in delivering tranformation programs, supported by technology, which bring success to Axon’s clients. Axon’s consultants have both the expertise and experience to tackle strategic, operational, information management and efficiency issues that businesses deal with today.

With the acquisition, Infosys Technologies hopes to speed up the achievement of their strategic corporate goals, which include expansion of the company’s consulting services and consequently becoming better equipped to take on the challenges involved in the transformation programs of its high profile clients.

“We are excited about this acquisition,” said Infosys CEO Kris Gopalakrishnan. “The strategic combination of our groups will accelerate the realization of our common aspiration – that of becoming the most respected provider of business transformational services in the global marketplace. We hold the management and employees of Axon in high regard and look forward to welcoming them to the Infosys Group.”
