IT management jobs demand people skills

Job seekers who are looking to find IT management roles must have strong interpersonal skills according to a new survey conducted by recruitment firm Hays.

94 percent of directors who were included in the survey said that general technical requirements for jobs in IT management were not enough for a job candidate to get the position.

Along with general people skills, directors place a great deal of importance on the person’s ability to communicate IT issues to people who know little on the subject, according to Contractor UK.

Hays managing director James Lloyd Townshend says:

“You need a proven track record and be up to date with the direction of technology, but you need to think strategically, give clear direction and engage with people.”
