Technology consulting firm IDC has announced plans for the inaugural IDC Cloud Computing Forum, Integrating Software, Server and Storage as a Service into Your Enterprise IT Delivery Model. The Forum will be held February 18th at the Stanford Court Renaissance Hotel in San Francisco.

The IDC Cloud Computing Forum will feature case studies focusing on how cloud computing can increase capacity and extend the capabilities of IT with minimal cost and significant flexibility and speed. Practical information, results from early adopters, and strategies to optimally blend on-premise to on-demand business models will also be explored. Attendees will learn which areas of the cloud are most widely adopted, which vendors are taking a leadership role, and identify which attributes are most important in selecting a supplier. Franks Gens, senior vice president and chief analyst at IDC, will serve as the Forum Chair. Gens leads IDC's Cloud Computing Team.

Joseph Tobolski, director of Cloud Computing for Accenture Technology Labs, will deliver the keynote address, "Achieving High Performance in Uncertain Times with Cloud Computing." His comments will explore the incremental steps organizations can take to capture the early benefits of cloud computing, particularly in challenging economic times. Strategies for dealing with associated risks -- from security and data integration challenges to service level guarantees and legacy systems - will also be explored.

More information about Accenture's perspective on cloud computing can be found in the article, "What the Enterprise Needs to Know About Cloud Computing."

Additional Forum case studies will focus on key topics including: "Building the Business Case for Cloud Computing," "Building Your Own Internal Enterprise Cloud," "Managing the Complexities of Security, Privacy and Compliance in the Cloud," "New IT Models for Growth and Innovation," "Next Generation of Server and Storage Virtualization," "and "Powering the Cloud: Addressing Electricity Use and Efficiency for The Next Generation Data Center."
