As businesses everywhere feel the increasing effects of globalization coupled with the worldwide economic downturn, there is now an unprecedented need for action-oriented business transformation, from strategy to execution. In line with its mission to enable clients to transform and perform through technologies, Capgemini, one of the world’s foremost providers of consulting, technology and outsourcing services, today announced Capgemini Consulting, a global Strategic Business Unit of the Capgemini Group, headed by Pierre-Yves Cros, former Group Strategy Director. With this move, Capgemini Consulting becomes the largest European consulting firm.

Consulting has a long-standing heritage within the Capgemini Group, with strong Business-Transformation experience and industry-leading clients in numerous sectors including public, manufacturing and financial services. The creation of Capgemini Consulting, which will have its own brand identity, is the result of the consolidation of its existing country-based consulting operations around the world, creating a global business unit of more than 4,000 consultants working in over 30 countries. The move is a response to increasing client demand for global reach and direct access to the breadth of consulting expertise across the Group, whether sector-specific or issue-related. In addition, the creation of this entity will enable Capgemini to further exploit the synergies between the Group’s different businesses.

Pierre-Yves Cros, Global head of Capgemini Consulting, stated: “In a downturn, organizations should not only focus on short-term management, but also on engaging necessary long-term transformation in order to emerge from the downturn stronger and well-prepared for when the economic climate improves.”

To better support its clients, Capgemini Consulting has formed three Global Practice Networks with specific offerings to help clients become more resilient in the downturn:

  • Strategy & Transformation, which helps clients adapt their strategy and business to radical shifts in the market and in their own organizations;
  • Operations Transformation, which optimizes clients’ business processes in the following areas: Marketing, Sales & Service (MSS), Finance & Employee Transformation (FET) and Supply Chain Management (SCM);
  • Technology Transformation, which aims to help COOs choose the right technology IT levers and CIOs, in their IT transformation programs.

Capgemini Consulting differentiates itself through a business-oriented approach which ensures a strong link between strategic thinking and delivery of results, and uses technology and forward-thinking methods to improve project implementation.

Based on its Business Transformation framework, Capgemini Consulting has developed a set of proprietary methods and tools that have been adapted to current client needs. For example:

  • Accelerated Solution Environments (ASE) and Visualization Techniques (3D design in particular) which help accelerate the decision-making and project-launch processes;
  • RApid INnovation centers (RAIN), used to accelerate the (re)design of the business by confronting clients with different business scenarios in real-time;
  • Social Networking tools and communities, which enable both direct collaboration between clients and the relevant Capgemini experts, and the creation of an internal platform where Capgemini consultants can develop their capabilities through global networking.

“Our new global perspective allows experience and best practices to be transferred freely across our network, which means that our approach is constantly being refined with new learning and innovative developments,” said Pierre- Yves Cros. “The combination of state-of-the-art methodologies, first-rate talent and an uncompromisingly fresh outlook brings our clients true value and tangible results.”
